Latecomers don't sync with presenter's slides

Hi there,

I have found another thread about this problem, but no real solution so far.

If somebody joins a Connect Pro meeting after the start time, the recorded presentation (Presenter/PowerPoint) that is playing in the meeting starts from the beginning for them.  They do not sync with the presenter's slides while it is playing.

We want to ensure everyone finishes the presentation at the same time and is in sync with the teleconference (which we are routing the presentation audio into).

I would have thought enabling the "Sync" button would keep everyone together, but it evidently does not on recorded presentations that advance slides themselves.

Can anyone provide any suggestions or help?

Thank you,
Simon

Re: Latecomers don't sync with presenter's slides

Hi, Simon --

At least half of our seminars are broadcast using a pre-recorded presentation like you. We discovered that every time you MANUALLY advance a slide, the latecomers are synched up with the rest of the audience.

Sounds tedious, but here's what we do...

1. We request that when the speaker creates their recording, he/she PAUSES speaking for about 2 seconds  before moving to the next slide.

2. If they DON'T do that, we use Presenter to edit the audio and stuff 1-2 second pauses before a slide transition.

3. During the broadcast, one of us production wonks watches the progression of a recorded slide, and as it approaches the last second or so, we advance to the next slide.

Also, during the recorded intro on slide #1, we always make sure to say, "If you joined this broadcast a little late, you will be synched up with the rest of the audience within a couple of minutes."

So far, no problems! Been doing it this way for about a year and a half.  Hope that helps!

Re: Latecomers don't sync with presenter's slides

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for your reply.  You advice marries up with what I found in the other thread inside the Presenter forum.  But thanks also for the advice on leaving blank space and also adding the note at the beginning about syncing up to the rest of the audience.  They are a couple of really good pieces of advice.

It's a nuisance of course that this hasn't been fixed as releases have come out.  Hopefully Adobe will sort this out at some point in the future.  If you turn on "Sync" you should expect it to.... well, sync!  This is most certainly a bug that should be fixed.  FLV content does stay in sync, PPT slides that advance automatically do not.

Thanks,
Simon
