Presenter Menu Items not Responding

We just installed Adobe Presenter on several of our Instructional Designers Laptops and PCs.  Adobe Presenter appears as a menu item in PowerPoint, but whenever you select one of the menu items, nothing happens.  Not even an hour glass cursor as if it's trying to respond.  Our IS department is looking into the issue, but even after a complete uninstall and re-install, the issue still persists.

Has anyone seen this before?  The install did work correctly on some of the PCs using the same installer, so we're guessing it's something conflicting on the systems themselves, but we're stumped.  We are running PowerPoint 2003 with XP SP2 and SP3.

Re: Presenter Menu Items not Responding

Did they do a network push to install Presenter by chance? or was this a manual install of Presenter...

Here are some suggestons -

1) Click the Microsoft Office button.
2) Click PowerPoint Options.
3) Click Add-ins.
4) On the Manage menu, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
5) If anything is in the list, select and enable them.
6) Close the window.
7) Restart PowerPoint.
8) Reproduce the steps that produced the original error.

If that doesn't do it, you may need to regsvr32 a dll or two. There are utils on the net that you can get that will monitor a software installation and tell you what changes during the install. It might give you a better idea of what dll files are involved if you don't get an answer here. Re registering dll files won't do you any harm and maybe it might resolve the issue.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Re: Presenter Menu Items not Responding

One other suggestion - maybe try a repair on Office too and then reinstall Presenter (or remove before you repair Office).

Re: Presenter Menu Items not Responding

One of our users had the same problem.  Below are the notes for the resolution.  It may help:

After getting Presenter to work when starting PPT in safe mode, the technician had me delete this apparently corrupt file:

PPT11.pcb

Located at this path:

C:\Documents and Settings\Tino_Paz\Application Data\Microsoft\PowerPoint\
