Interesting trends in Connect Pro usage

Trying to link travel cost savings with usage of Connect Pro, we analyzed data of user meetings and user locations to take a guess of how many travels were avoided thanks to Connect Pro.
Our expectation was to find that most meetings would involve people from different locations. We had a surprise to find that most meetings were actually from people in the same location.
We looked more closely at this and found that people were using Connect Pro even in face to face meeting in replacement of in-room projectors.
This was quite unexpected and would be interested to see if other people see the same trend.

Re: Interesting trends in Connect Pro usage

We've just been working with our finance team to look at similar measurements at Adobe.

The following chart shows how much Connect Pro meeting usage drives down travel costs (or vice versa).

Re: Interesting trends in Connect Pro usage

I hope to provide some anonymous user data on these type of metrics in the coming weeks.  That means no customer names but metrics on whether the meetings could have been face-to-face, whether usage of Connect (number of meetings and duration of meetings) has consistently increased over time and if the physical travel has diminished or declined.  I would bet that the chart above is a trend encountered by all Adobe Connect customers.

Re: Interesting trends in Connect Pro usage

Have you tried Footprints on your account? It will automatically track the locations of users, the mileage that has been saved, and the resulting Carbon and Dollar savings generated. All of the data can then be exported to Excel for offline analysis.

There's even a feature where users can indicate if they would have physically travelled to a live version of the event (they essentially set the number of attendees to zero) and we plan on enhancing this capability.

The pod is a powerful way of documenting usage and cost justifications for the implementation of web-conferencing. You can get a free trial at the Refined Data Web Site and I can assist with your analysis if you would like to make the results public.

Re: Interesting trends in Connect Pro usage

As an FYI, the new Reports module in Connect Pro Central 7 will report on a number of handy items, such as Distinct Meeting Rooms, number of minutes, peak connections, and a variety of other metrics to help Admin measure usage.
