Stuck on Grey Screen with Blue Progress Bar
In the past we've had problems with users joining meetings from networks where port 1935 is blocked, e.g. in schools, and what seems to happen is that they pause on the grey screen with the blue progress bar that appears as Connect loads.
More recently we've had a couple of users for whom that is happening at home, where port 1935 appears to be open. Is there any other reason that attempting to join a meeting would pause at this point?

It is historically, as you have noted, a port blocking issue with a hang at that screen. If your user is using the Desktop Application then you may want to have them enable logging and see what is causing the issue from their computer's perspective.
