Upgrading to SQL 2016

I have Connect v9.6.1 on SQL 2008. Will be upgrading my SQL server to Server 2016 and the SQL 2016.  Will this work for Connect v9.6.1?

SQL 2016 isn't officially supported for Connect 9.6.1, but it should work just fine.

9.8 was the first version that supported 2016 officially.
