Pervasive audio problems in Adobe Connect Meeting

No matter how many times I configure my mac, and the audio wizard, my headphones (whether USB or through headphone jack - I've tried it all) will not receive audio once the meeting starts. Instead it comes out of my monitor speakers, super-quietly. Problematic, as I am the host. Are there any known solutions out there?
