Captivate with Wacom Tablet

Has anyone tried to capture pen movements with Captivate?

I am wondering if I could capture the handwriting process as pen movements were made on the tablet in an application like Illustrator or even in a simple paint window.

My goal is to record the stroke production process for handwriting to illustrate letter production sequences.

I don't want to make a Captivate purchase and find that it is not going to meet the need.

Not sure if that is possible, but you can download a trial of Captivate here:

Re: Captivate with Wacom Tablet

Thank you Shayla. I had not yet searched out the possibility of a trial download. That may be the only way to find out if it would work for my unique application. I appreciate your interest and the help with the download link. That probably saved me considerable searching time.

Best to you in the Burg. Go Steelers!

Even if someone else were to post that wacoms work (and I do know they work in Connect, but I have not tried Captivate) it may not work well for your specific purpose. Please do let us know how things work out for you!

Re: Captivate with Wacom Tablet

Although I haven't tried recording Wacom tablet/pen movement, it would seem to me, however, that if you set up Captivate to Full Motion Recording mode you should be able to capture what you're looking for.

Since the stylus operates as your mouse cursor, painting while using various brushes, settings and such should be recorded.

The big caveat to be aware of here is the likelihood of massive file sizes.  The more movement/interaction while capturing in FMR mode, that typically translates into large swf files.  Another thing to keep in mind is that, unlike using simple screen captures in Captivate, fixing "mistakes" while recording in FMR mode is extremely tough to do.

Hope that helps!
