How to get the Sony HVR-V1E/V1P to work?

Anyone with experience of connecting the Sony HVR-V1E/V1P camera to the Camera pod?
It is connected via Firewire, and we can recognize it in Flash Player Settings pull down menu. BUT then it does not appear, it does not broadcast.

We have also tried a second camera:  Sony DSR-250P. And the same issue occurs.

Both cameras start well in other applications on the computer.

Any great help would be very much appreciated?
