Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

I am install Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in 64-bit and running into multiple issues.

Platform:
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
- Outlook 2010 32-bit (We are running the 32-bit version due to missing add-in support for Office 2010 64-bit)
- User Account - Standard (i.e. the user the add-in is being installed under does not have Administrator Privileges.)
- Adobe Connect Outlook Plugin Version: 3.0
- Adobe Connect Outlook Plugin Installer Filename: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in Setup64b1.exe

Issues:
1. Install the add-in
2. Open Outlook
3. The add-in does not run and prompt the user to enter the adobe connect configuration information. (i.e. the add-in tab is not displayed in outlook, nor does the add-in appear under file --> options --> Add-ins as being disabled or present at all. It acts as if the add-in isn't present or was not installed)

Fix: Close Outlook,  Re-run the installer, and select "Repair Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in

4. Reopen Outlook
5. Adobe connect outlook add-in now runs and prompts for adobe connect account, server, and room information.
6. Click on the Add-in tab
7. Click on "Create"
8. Enter Name: "Test1"
9. Enter Custom Url: "Test1"
10. Include Audio Conference: "None"
11. Click OK ---> The following Error is displayed

Custom UI Runtime Error in ConnectOUtlookAdd-in. Error found in Custom UI XML "ConnectOUtlookAddin":
Line: 3
Column: 10
Error Code: 0x80004005
Failed to find Office Control by ID
ID: TabHome

The Error also  appears in the event viewer with the following additional information:

Custom UI Runtime Error in ConnectOutlookAdd-in
Error found in Custom UI XML of "ConnectOutlookAdd-in":

Line: 3
Column: 10
Error Code 0x80004005
Failed to find Office control by ID
ID: TabHome
P1: 701656
P2: 14.0.6029.1000
P3: 695x
P4

My guess is that this error is being caused by the fact that the new appointment window this is opened does not contain a "Home" tab.

I retested for both issues (i.e. the failed install and error on create) under a user account with Administrator Privileges. Neither issue appeared, so this add-in is doing something that requires administrator privileges and it should not.

Can someone review this and get back to me if it is a know issue or when it may be fixed.

It looks like you are trying to install the 64 bit version of the plugin in a 32 bit version of Outlook. I'd start by downloading the 32 bit version from here, and see if that works. It looks like version 3.1 is the current version as well.

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

I attempted to install the 32-bit version of the plugin as part of testing. The 32-bit plugin will not install due to the following error:

Installation Error: System Prerequisites not met. 32-bit system environment required

So...the outlook plugin version is dependant on the version of OS running, not on the version of Outlook being used. In this case, OS is Windows 7 64-bit and Outlook is 32-bit.

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

I'm getting the exact same issue.  The error does not seem to be affecting the use of the AddIn under outlook, but the 32-bit installer will not install on my 64bit box, and the 64bit version seems to have a defect as mentioned in the first post.

Hi
can you tell me the OS and Office version ?

32 bit installer must be used only if u have 32 bit OS.

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

OS:
  Windows 7 SP1
  64-bit Operation System

Outlook:
  MS Office Professional Plus 2010
  Version#: 14.0.6029.1000
Installed under "Program Files (x86)", so it is a 32bit app

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

Hi
You should be using 64 bit installer. 32 bit will definitely not work.
Are you getting the exact same error as in first post ?

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

I am.  I have the exact same issue as PARjohn in the first post, and cannot install the 32bit version per the 3rd post:

I attempted to install the 32-bit version of the plugin as part of testing. The 32-bit plugin will not install due to the following error:

Installation Error: System Prerequisites not met. 32-bit system environment required

The error from the Event Viewer:

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

Also note, this does not come up all of the time.  It only ever comes up on child windows, but, it is not 100% consistent.  It seems to happen when the application has been idle for a minute or so.  Then, if I go to create a new email/event or open an existing one in a new window, I will get the error again.  After the error though, if I attempt to open other outlook windows or do other work right away, it does not reappear.

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

Have you tried it on Office 2010 64 Bit, worked for me!

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

Have not.  Don't know if I have access to that either.  Thanks for the idea though.

Re: Adobe Connect Outlook Add-in multiple issue

I'm having the same issue as originally posted with Windows 7 x64, Office 2010 x64, and the Adobe Connect x64 plug in. Essentially if I deploy the plug in and run the install as the SYSTEM it installs but never shows up in Outlook. To make it work I have to kick off the installation as the user, then type in my admin credentials at the elevation prompt... then it works.

Help, I need to deploy to 130 users!

PS - I have the same issue with the Win 7 x86, Office 2010 x86 and Adobe Connect x86.

Thanks!
