Audio files attached to text captions

I have a slide where the user clicks on buttons to reveal text captions with additional detail.  I have attached audio files to a number of these captions, but when I preview the project, the audio does not play when the button is clicked.

What I want is for the user to be able to listen to the additional information when they click.  I cannot use the TTS option (at slide level) as there is no order in which the user is required to click the buttons.

Am I doing something wrong, or am I trying to do the impossible?
