Server cannot be reached ("Website not found")

Hi all,

I just migrated to a new server, and I have the following problem:

- I log on to the new server via remote desktop connection, open Internet Explorer, go to the Connect login-page --> everything works as planned

- When trying to do the same from any other PC, the Website won't be found --> What could be the solution here?

Please note that I'm not operating on a supported environment:
Connect 7 SP3 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit on a VM

I made sure that the IIS is not running. If the IIS is running, I get the IIS-default-homepage on any PC (as expected, so I can say that the server can be looked up from other PCs), but of course the connect-login won't work then (as expected).

Any help is appreciated, I'm not even sure if this problem is Connect-related or not.

Note: We are planning to upgrade to Connect 8 later this year, but a quick upgrade is unfortunatley not possible.

Best regards
Oliver

Re: Server cannot be reached ("Website not found")

Hi Oliver, did your server name change when you moved to your new server?  Most likely it did, and your database is still trying to resolve using the old server name.  Can you confirm?

Re: Server cannot be reached ("Website not found")

Hi Matt,

unfortunately not...

The server indeed changed its name, but I already made sure that host & host mappings are fully qualified.

Apart from the configuration console, are there other places where the server's name is set, e.g. within the database?

Does anybody here have experience with Connect 7 SP3 running on a 64 Bit VM?

Best regards
Oliver

Re: Server cannot be reached ("Website not found")

Solved: You have to create a special Rule for the new Windows Advanced Firewall, if you're planning to use a 3rd party Webserver on a Win Server 2008.

See this URL for a step-by-step tutorial:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articl … ap-in.html

Once I set the right ports (80,443,1935), everything worked as planned.

A word regarding Adobe's Support: It really su**s!!! I cannot be more polite, sorry!

First I talked to the Germany's Connect (!!!) support-hotline, and all they said was basically "We know there is such a thing as a Connect-Server, but we don't know jack about it. We will transfer you to our specialised (international) Connect support-group".

Obviously it wasn't office-hours, so I had to talk to an answering machine. There I requested an urgent call back due to our problems, I left name and number, but so far NOBODY returned my call. This was nearly a week ago!!! (On top of that, I wouldn't get the phone number of this group.)

Sorry, we're running for years a very expensive software that's being used at one of Germany's top companies (one of the bavarian car-makers...), and this isn't the first time that I feel like I'm completely left alone by Adobe's support.

So, enough venting, problem solved - by our own efforts!

Cheers and take care!
Oliver
