Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Had this issue with PowerPoint 2007 too, but it's happened often that when just trying to start up PowerPoint 2010, that it won't load and it later comes back saying "Adobe Presenter add-in did not load properly ....  If this happens a lot then you should disable it," which I've now done because it happens too frequently now.

I have updated to the 7.02 version.  I use the Presenter that came with Adobe Acrobat 9 Extended.

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Hi Jody,
The current version of Presenter is 7.0.5, for which the update engine can be downloaded here.

Further, since Office 2010 is still in Beta, it's an unstable foundation for any add-ins, not just Presenter. If possible, I strongly suggest reverting back to PowerPoint 2007, and updating to 7.0.5, as it seemed to rectify "Trusted Add-In" issue.

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

That seemed to do the trick (so far). Thanks so much.  I actually have a "real" version of Office 2010 and not Beta.  I opened and closed PowerPoint several times and it didn't crash.

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

I have this same issue with a faculty member that is using Windows 7(32-bit) and PowerPoint 2007.  We have uninstall the add-in numerous times and re-installed it, but it PowerPoint still crashes when they try to open it from the start menu.

She is using 7.0.5, which I believe is the latest patch.

Thanks,
Melissa

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Try changing PowerPoint to run in XP Compatibility Mode:

Click th Start button.
Use the search phrase "compatibel"
Click the link for "Run programs made for previous versions of Windows"
This launches the Program Compatibility window.
Click Next.
A list of installed programs will be displayed.
Select Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.
Then click Next.
Click "Try Recomended Settings."
Then click Start the Program.  This will open PowerPoint and test the new settings.
Close PowerPoint.
Then click Next.
Then click, "Yes, save these settings for this program."
Then click Close.

We ran into this issue with Windows 7 users and this seems to resolve the error message.  Not sure if this resolution will work for Office 2010 also.  Worth a try.

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Help!  I bought a new computer.  It came with Windows 7 on it.  When I try to load Presenter 7, an error message comes up saying that PowerPoint can't be found on my computer.  I'm using Office 2010.  Is there anyone else having this problem?!

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Given that Office 2010 came out _after_ the release of Presenter 7, it may not be fully supported in Office 2010.  Office 2010 is not listed on the system requirements page for the product:

http://www.adobe.com/products/presenter/systemreqs/

As such, it's quite likely that there are issues with Office 2010 and Presenter 7 and that it will take a future update to Presenter to resolve them. This happened with Presenter and Office 2007 as well.

Presenter 7 is not currently supported in Office 2010. There is an update being planned to fix that, but no date has been given.

Yeah. I agree with Jorma. I've been trying to search for an update to fix the problem with the Presenter 7 for Office 2010 but i could not find one since its still not release. We just have to wait a bit longer.

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Anybody in Adobe reading this thread?  As MS Office 2010 become pervasive - is there any sensitivity from Adobe that they may lose customers if not addressed sooner?

I have the same issues and had to resort to maintaining two versions of MS Office (2007 and 2010).  Not exactly an efficient way of doing business.

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Adobe Presenter 7 has a new installer that supports installation on Office 2010 systems
The same can be downloaded from URL http://www.adobe.com/products/presenter/ from under the heading "Presenter for Microsoft

Re: Presenter causes PowerPoint 2010 to not load

Thank you.  I downloaded the new installer.  It at least recognized PPT 2010 and installed.  That's as far as it went.  Addin is missing in the ribbon.  Tried looking for an addin in the Presenter directory.  None was available.  Any ideas?
