Problems with Recordings

We've been using Connect to deliver training. We host a live Web Conference and also record it for later viewing. We have found that the recording is not consistent with the live Web Conference. For instance, the camera and voice pod is not in synch with the share pod. The presenter, in the share pod, will be several seconds ahead of the camera and voice pod.

Even worse... today the camera and voice pod worked for a few minutes, then froze. After awhile, it appeared inactive (gray person with black background) for the next 20 minutes of the presentation. The share pod was fine and moving along, but with no picture or sound in the camera and voice pod. When the camera and voice pod finally appeared, it was at the beginning of the presentation and the share pod was already toward the end.

Our presenter did upload a few flash files she made herself. Does anyone know if creating your own flash files and uploading them causes any problems? Is there a limit to the size of a flash file before problems become apparent? To us, this issue is unacceptable. If you'd like to see what we're experiencing, the recording is at: http://univofmichigan.acrobat.com/p12153077/. Move the slider around to different sections to see the issue.

The presenter was connected by LAN and we had the camera and voice pod on slow movement, then on fast movement.

If anyone has any ideas or advice, I'd greatly appreciate it. This is a very high profile series for The University.

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Problems with Recordings

Eric,
We record all of our webcasts as well and had a similar issue recently where the recorded version froze 10 seconds after it started.  After lengthy testing and Adobe phone support, apparently this happens as a result of having the camera in "pause" when you start recording.  The cameras need to be live/active when you begin recording - and then can be paused as needed.

When switching layouts, it helps to wait a few seconds before turning on your camera - and best to only turn on one camera at a time, so they're not all trying to come up at once.  Each layout seems to need a moment to buffer.  Try giving a few seconds in-between each one coming on.

There is a new patch that just came out which is supposed to fix this pod-freezing issue as well.  We are testing it this week on our system and hope it'll take care of the previous recording glitches we've experienced.

As for the flash file issue - are you uploading them via Adobe Presenter in your Content within Connect and pulling them into your meeting rooms this way?  This may help in viewing them back.
