Re: reduce size of recorded meeting

The size of the recording on the server is directly tied to the type of media being shared and it's quality. Recordings of meetings that use a lot of live video and screen sharing with VoIP will be larger than other recordings. Reducing the quality settings will reduce the recording size, but it will  probably make more of a difference to set up some best practices for your speakers.

I would only use the live video for intro/Q&A/closing, as a live video can be distracting at any other time (and it just consumes unneeded bandwidth). The live video can be paused, or replaced with an image of the speaker, so it still shows who it talking, but the attendees don't need to watch the speaker drinking water, yawning, picking their nose, or whatever else people do while they are not conscious of being on camera.

Screen sharing should only be done when necessary. If a PPT or a PDF can do the trick, use that, as it consumes much less bandwidth. If screen sharing is necessary, have a monitor resolution of around 1024 X 768. This will keep the bandwidth to deliver your screen image down and it will make your screen easier to see for the attendees.
