Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

Hello all,

I'm experiencing a frustrating situation here.  We have just added an Adobe Connect 9 server, (in addition to our existing Adobe Connect 8 server), and my existing systems (Win 7, Osprey 210 Capture card) don't seem to work with the new Connect 9 server.

When I launch the camera in my video pod, we only get a black window.  I can still log into Connect 8 on the same system, and enable my camera.

Dell Optiplex 790
Osprey-210 (latest driver 4.5.0.86)
Win 7 (Full updates)
Flash Player 11 (latest update)
Connect AddIn for Connect 9 (ac_addin_win_247.zip)

I've found many people in similar situations as part of google searches on this matter, but have yet to find a solution.  Can any one help me navigate the magic combination of driver/flash/add-in versions to make my Osprey-210 and Connect 9 get along?

What happens if you stop the camera inside Connect and then lower the video quality one notch via the Meeting menu --> Preferences --> Video --> Video Quality. Do you get an image then when enabling your video again?

Re: Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

Thank you for gollowing up with me re: this.  I'm currently away from the office, but can confirm I was using a video quality setting that was one step down from the highest setting.  (I can't remember what that setting is called without finding a laptop and wifi connection to log in and check - apologies)

Re: Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

The reason for the black video screen is, that the video input size doesn't fit with the ac9 sizes. We are just finishing with a custom pod to get rid of this problem. The custom pod should be available around next week. I will post the link in the forum.
We are working with Osyprey and Blackmagic Design cards and of course with 16:9 videos. And it's working fine :)

Re: Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

Why must we be reliant on custom pods and not Adobe's Connect software?

Integrating external cameras is nothing new. In fact, it would seem to me that Adobe would want to help those of us who are trying to leverage our significant Polycom/Cisco/Lifesize investments by supporting video capture cards.

Until I can purchase a webcam that functions the same as a Polycom Eagle Eye Director unit I will be sticking with the Polycom system. BTW, using the Polycom EED with Adobe Connect 8 was amazing for panel discussions and interviewing and board meetings.

Re: Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

Try lower the quality one notch more, just to test... But I think 'rshilliger' is correct in his/her observation that the video resolution/size is the actual problem. But this might be possible to fix for instance by setting a lower resolution using a software like VidCap or similar...

Try 'googling' for VidCap and download a copy (it's free).

Re: Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

I once had an issue with an Osprey card producing only black screens in Adobe Connect, while it worked fine everywhere else using non-Adobe apps. I discovered that the Adobe add-in had somehow been disabled under IE plugins. Check under internet options, programs, to make sure it's enabled.

Hello again, were you able to develop a custom pod for Osprey captures?   Have I missed the post in which you shared it?  Any help, truly appreciated.

I still can't understand why Connect seems to be engineering out some very base level functionality.

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Video Pod Issues in Adobe Connect 9

Hi all
We have just finished the new 16:9 widescreen custom pod for Adobe Connect 8 and 9. Now you are able to stream 16:9 videoscreens, resize the video size and the quality. Also very useful for capture cards like Blackmagic Design and Osprey.
