Forms in Pods

Do you know if it's possible to use the SDK to create a pod that contains a form for collecting data and storing it in a database? Basically, we want to survey users while in meetings, possibly collect data like medical history or whatever. Can this be done?

Re: Forms in Pods

This sounds like a custom pod development. A lot of questions regarding custom pods has come up in this forum. RealEyes Media and some other Adobe/Flash shops create custom pods, feel free to email me if you want to discuss a custom pod development or search the adobe sight for shops that work closely with Adobe products to talk with them about getting your needs met with Connect

Re: Forms in Pods

This is a very simple application to build inside a meeting pod. We can easily design a flash based form that would allow users to complete a survey and click a submit button. The form contents would then be submitted to an external web site where the fields could be stored in a database for later use.

The data capture could be done very easily using MySql and PHP or any other technology of your choice.

A more sophisticated version of the application would allow a host to specify the url for an XML file containing the layout of the survey giving you the opportunity to create a number of different forms each with its own fields and layout. The XML would define all of these variables and the destination script that would process the output.

This would provide a pretty dynamic solution that you could use for a wide range of applications. For example, in addition to surveys, you could run polls that would store each user's answers and all of the data from the various survey pods from a single meeting would be collected in a single location.

I'd be happy to discuss the application with you in more detail if you're interested.

Re: Forms in Pods

Sounds to me like you could also publish a PPT with a quiz to the server as a piece of content, present that content in a share pod in the meeting, and then in the administrative reports for the content get the answers each user gave... right?

Re: Forms in Pods

Yes Aaron, that works well if you have a basic data collection requirement.
