Installation error

I'm trying to install Adobe Connect with use of a SQL server 2008 R2 and a named instance
During installation I enter:

sqlhost\instance
1433
sa

I click next and see the Breeze database being created and in the log files i see
"connection string = jbdc:macromedia:sqlserver://sqlhost\instance:1433;databasename=breeze

Installation walks through and reports at the end there are errors.
So looking in the log i discover at the end of the log

connection string = jbdc:macromedia:sqlserver://sqlhostinstance:1433;databasename=breeze

Yes you are reading correct ://sqlhostinstance so the installer puts sqlhost and instance name right after each other without the / it reported at first during setup.

My feeling says the installation is failing on the missing /
Can anyone confirm?

Yes we had the same problem, there seems to be a bug with the way Adobe Connect 8 installer connects to the database. Our solution was to install local database then switch to an external database. Adobe have been advised about this problem and i believe are working on a fix. Hope this helps.
