Use of Edge servers, do they help?

My organization conducts Adobe Connect meetings in the US, Europe and Asia.   We are currently running off one server in the states that all the users run through.  If we were to set up Edge servers in Europe and Asia, what kind of enhanced performance would we be likely to expect?  Thank you for any info you can provide!

Re: Use of Edge servers, do they help?

From what I understand edge servers help you scale better. If your edge server is Asia and main server in US then all Asia clients will connect through the edge server in Asia. So if 100 users in Asia are watching a video, then instead of 100 videos streams from US, one will be till Asia edge and then all the 100 users will pick it up from there. It will provide you better scaling as well as help your participants as they may have less latency with the local geographic edge.
Now this advantage is valid for both videos and audio.

You can find more help here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaS … -7ff3.html under the head Deploying edge servers in geographic zones

Depends on the number of clients connections from every continent. Usually if the connections used by clients are good you will not feel any benefit from using EDGE servers.
