Quick question to get me started

My company is looking into Connect Pro to integrate with our own app that we have developed in flex.  Looking into things it appears that the api involves the http headers, and flex has no way of getting this info unless it is using air, so I guess I will have to have the help of ColdFusion to accomplish this.

Anyway, I have been reading the API guide and trying to follow it, but it almost assumes that you have your own connect server installed?  All of the examples use http://example.com/api/xml?action=.....  I created a demo connect pro account and the URL that they gave me is:  http://connectnow.acrobat.com/hanchan07test.  So how do I access the API with this?

Any help getting started would be appreciated, as it is getting frustrating trying to dive into this as there is little documentation on working with the API, especially with coldfusion and flex.

Re: Quick question to get me started

Hanchan07,

First we should be clear about Connect, and the versions we're talking about. Connect does have open APIs and they don't need a licensed account to access or leverage. ConnectNow, however is a Beta version of things to come in Connect. Being a Beta product there is far less API integration. Since there is no server side access to ConnectNow, I would suspect that there is little to no API options in it.

You can get a free 30 day trial version of Connect version 7, which is the production version, through adobe.com or through a reseller. You should know that Connect 7 is NOT a Flex application, and will only work with AS2 Flash applications built to follow the rules of the Adobe Acrobat Connect Collaboration Builder SDK Document: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Connect/6.0/SDK/help.pdf

Re: Quick question to get me started

Ok, thanks for the info, I wasnt aware that there was a different trial version.  When I signed up for my "free trial" it gave me a connectnow account.

I was aware that only AS2 can be used to make pods and such for Connect, I just simply need to call the API to get reports and things like that from outside of Connect, which is why I am using flex.  Hopefully I wont have to make any custom pods cause I would have to dust off my AS2 skills ;)

Thanks again for the info.
