What is the difference between VOIP and the Audio Bridge?

Can someone please explain to me what the Audio bridge is? And why I might use it? I have looked online and everything is about as clear as mud. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Amanda,

When people refer to the "Audio Bridge" they are referring to Connect Pro's integration with audio teleconferencing provides such as Premiere Global Services, Meeting One and Avaya.

VoIP refers to the native voice-over-IP capabilities in Connect Pro that allow you to speak using your computer's microphone and speakers.

This article will hopefully clear up any muddiness you are experiencing:

Re: What is the difference between VOIP and the Audio Bridge?

Just to add a little to what David said, while the quality of the sound is great in the "voip" pod, I refuse to call it VoIP.  VoIP implies today some sort of telephony quality.  There is no PBX.  You're just tossing your voice packets out on the web with everything else, being subject to latency and other factors.  So I refer to it as "voice and audio over the web".

It also can significantly increase the bandwidth a user needs to attend.  With multiple users, a "push to talk" scenario manifests, because too many people talking in 'multiple speakers' mode ends up sounding really bad.
