Transparency in zoom Area object issue

I'm trying to import a graphic (GIF, PNG) into a zoom area object and even though I see the transparency in the zoom area properties window and on the canvas, when previewing or publishing the transparency goes white.  I have another PNG that goes black.  This happens in both Captivate 3 and 4.  Is it a setting somewhere that I don't know about?  Looks to me like a bug.
