Editing Connect Video

What tool can you use to edit recordings that were created with Connect Pro?  We tried Flash but it didn't work.

Re: Editing Connect Video

With Connect 7, there is a built in editor.  It allows you to cut out parts of a recording fairly quickly and their editor is easy to use.  There are some limitations though.  What kind of editing are you wanting to do?

Re: Editing Connect Video

We have faculty members who want to make screen capture recordings using Connect Pro, then download their recordings and add other things to them in a video editing software.

Then there are others who just want to export the recorded flv and then convert it to a format that will play in iTunesU as a podcast.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Melissa

Re: Editing Connect Video

Melissa,

Your users will need to use the 'Make Offline' feature first to obtain a single .flv file.
That file can then be processed into whatever format they need using something like Super ( http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html#Dnload ) -- follow the 'Download and Use' links, then look at the bottom of this page, http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html, for the actual download. ( the preceding pages have done some referrer checking in the past, so it's usually necessary to click through the site)
Super will convert the flat offline .flv file from Connect into just about anything you might want.

Re: Editing Connect Video

Super is well, just super to use. I highly recommend it, but it is a little advanced IMHO.

There are other options available too. Some free, some cost money. You can check places like download.com for FLV converter tools (FLV to MPEG, FLV to AVI, etc). There are a lot of options out there. Once you have it converted to something other than FLV you can edit it with many tools out there, again check sites like download.com.  It's usually easier to know what you want to convert it to and then search for a program that can edit that type of file.

Simple programs like Windows Movie Maker and Windows Live Movie Maker (although probably not my first choices) can do simple edits of .WMV/.ASF, .MPG (MPEG-1), .AVI (DV-AVI), .WMA, .WAV, and .MP3 files.

There are a ton of options out there available. hope this helps!

Re: Editing Connect Video

In terms of editing an FLV recording (ie, editing again after you've downloaded a recording and before converting to another format if you need to) there is an AIR app that is available and it looks like development is continuing...
