Close Captioning for live meeting?
Does anybody have a way to close caption the audio for the hearing impaired. Plug-ins or software that could be used simultaneously.
Thanks

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
Hi Mike,
We have this capability available free of charge via the Connect Pro Exchange downloadable here:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/i … id=1032548
Basically you download the extension (built using the Collaboration Builder SDK) and upload it to a Share Pod. We have partnerships with Caption Colorado and WGBH to provide real-time captioning services for your meeting.
Learn more about these partners by going here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatco … essibility
Hope that helps,
David

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
There is a custom pod that works with Caption Colorado that can be used to do this: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/i … id=1032548

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
Just a note that the Captioning Extension is not limited to Captions Colorado for a supplier. You can also contact WGBH Educational Foundation's Media Access Group for realtime captioning of Connect sessions. We do them all the time. In fact, we created the extension.
Cheers,

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Closed Captioning pod on the Exchange has just been updated with a new version.
Brad - thanks to your organization for creating such a valuable pod.

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
Alistair, I tried loading the updated zip file into a meeting room, but it fails (conversion error). I also get an error message when I try to load it into the content library. Any suggestions?

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
Hi Bruce,
For the Closed Captioning application you only need to upload the SWF file called CCPod_0053.swf to a Share pod. So unzip the file and then just upload the SWF not the entire ZIP. The ZIP file also includes a PDF with instructions for how to use so I would recommend that you take a look at that to get a better understanding of how it works.
Best,
David

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
We use Caption Colorado. WGBH charged much higher rates because many of our events coincide with the local news on the west coast for which their captioners were already booked... Supply and Demand. We've been happy with most of the captioners with whom we've worked and we received prompt and satisfactory resolution the one time we did have a problem.

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
Hi. We did some extensive testing last year with our Accessibility Group here at PSU. We used a person who was a courty recorder and her software to come up with this.
Here is a recording that was made. To access it you mat need to acquire a Friends of Penn State Account by visiting http://fps.psu.edu. There is no charge for it.
The URL for the recording is https://breeze.psu.edu/p76734498/

Re: Close Captioning for live meeting?
Hello all.
Thank you for the information. I just opened the Connect Pro Meeting Captioning Extension PDF file and in it read, "Note: If the caption server is separated from the Adobe Connect Pro Meeting by firewall, see the section below on firewall issues."
However, there isn't a firewall issues section. Could anyone help fill in the blanks regarding firewall issues and possible workarounds?
Thank you for your help in advance!
