Connect Assistant

Hi,

I had a great meeting with Adobe yesterday around the challenges of using Voice Over IP in a meeting. The result was a fairly extensive best practice document which has been posted to the Duke Digital Media Solutions Connect Site FAQ (http://oit.duke.edu/dms/connect/faq.html)

Re: Connect Assistant

Hi there,

I'd hesitate to support something along the lines of what you first describe as (when running 7 videos) this assistant could become very much like Mr Paper Clip and a distraction...although I understand what you are trying to achieve.

Re your comments about reminders, we use a 'flight' analogy for people coming in to meetings. For starters, we ask those going to attend their first ever meeting to be pre-prepared by working through the 'Pre-Flight Check'...

Adobe once asked me why I don't do this when users come online, but I think first impressions and being pre-prepared is useful.

Next, in the shared folder of our server, we have some "Welcome aboard" animations that we encourage staff to use. It's kinda like being told to stow your luggage and put away your tray table....

The whole idea is to do those reminders you talk about and encourage some consistent etiquette for running meetings.

Cheers, Phil
