Pointer and Whiteboard Tools while Sharing Screen?

Our IT Help Desk is testing out using Connect Pro to shadow end user's screens. Their current tool, and others they are testing, allow a pointer to direct the remote end user's attention to certain fields and buttons.

I am not able to use Connect Pro's pointer or whiteboard tools in the Share Pod if the remote end user is sharing their desktop. This is an important requirement for our Help Desk. I figured out how to have the remote end user "Pause and Annotate", but this is not an effective way to walk them through a process.

Has anyone heard if the pointer and/or whiteboard tools can be available for use in the Share Pod while sharing a desktop?

Re: Pointer and Whiteboard Tools while Sharing Screen?

You can achieve this by turning on "Host Cursors".  To do this follow these steps:

1. From within the Meeting go to Present > Host Cursors
2. You'll see three options, to achieve what you want, choose Show to all attendees.

When you do this, an arrow appears with each Hosts' name when they move their cursor in the meeting window.

Best,
David

Re: Pointer and Whiteboard Tools while Sharing Screen?

efurth,

Actually the way to achieve this with connect is to have the IT employee request control of the person sharing their screen's desktop or application. This will allow the IT employee and the end user to work through the software, or whatever, together. The IT person can move the end users mouse to the correct location or item on the screen. This shared control feature works between OS's, so even if one person is on a Mac and the other is on a PC you will be able to share control of the computer. The only things to be aware of when doing this is if the person sharing their screen has a left handed mouse, and you don't then you will have to switch which buttons you use on your mouse while controlling their computer and hot keys won't work, but regular typing does.

Otherwise there is no way put something up on the end user's screen while they are screen sharing. Turning on the Host Cursors will not show anything on the the end user's screen, just in the meeting room.
