Flash requirements are creating problems

I've been hosting meetings on adobeconnect for years.  One of its advantages over competitive web meeting software has always been that my meeting attendees did not need to download software to attend.  Most computers had reasonably new versions of Flash and I could get them right into the meeting room with no delays in downloading newer Flash versions.

Now that seems to have changed with the latest version of adobeconnect, and I am having major problems and delays getting people into my rooms, all of which seems to be coming from new Flash player requirements.

I have wasted far too much time holding hands and not getting to the point in my meetings because of this requirement, which frankly is moving adobeconnect backwards in terms of working as a productivity tool for my business.

Unless this is a correctable very soon, I will need to cancel my adobeconnect account and find some other web meeting software that is less intrusive, something that helps my business instead of hurting it.

Anybody know a way around this problem?

Re: Flash requirements are creating problems

The requirement of Flash Player 11.2 for Connect 9.2 had been communicated since the announcement of the new release. It has even been listed on the homepage for this site since then, http://www.connectusers.com/. The page listing new requirements and features is available here, http://www.connectusers.com/community/f … nnect-92/.

As new versions of this application are released, you should expect that the software/hardware requirements to use the application will also change. If you want to have everything stay the same, you can look at deploying a licensed version of Connect on your own server(s) and then you will be in charge of when the application is updated. As long as you are on the Hosted environment, you will get updates per Adobe's schedule.

You can always encourage your users to use Chrome, which silently updates itself and its version of Flash, as Google sees fit. This means that they should be on a current version of Flash Player.

I thought that Chrome wasn't recommended because it didn't install the Adobe add-in.  Has this changed?

There was the issue with Chrome 21, http://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/kb … lity.html, and Chrome 25, http://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/kb … rome.html.

The current version is 33 and it works with my hosted account (9.2). I can use both the native Chrome Flash Player or the traditional Flash Player, as described in the above solutions.

Re: Flash requirements are creating problems

9.1.b does not yet support Chrome with the AC9 add-in unless you specify in Chrome PP-API settings your Adobe Connect Server's domain --> You can do this by opening Chrome and going to
chrome://settings/contentExceptions#ppapi-broker and then adding your server's domain.

9.2 doesn't like Chrome either.

I've tested 9.2.1 and it DID like Chrome.  I didn't sandbox my domain nor enable PPAPI neither.  Though, I can see things changing rather rapidly with all the Chrome updates.
