Share screen stopping when I switch between layouts

Hi there.
When I switch between the 'share' layout, then go to a different type of layout (one that still has a share pod in it) I find I have to reshare my screen/slide/etc.

Is there a way around this?

It depends on whether you are using the same share pod, or a different share pod as you switch between layouts. I would suspect that when you went from layout 1 to layout 2 - they had different instances of a share pod. So, the share has to stop, since it no longer exists in the 2nd layout.

Here's a quick test you can do:
* Duplicate a layout (do you know how to do this)?
* Go back to the original layout
* Start to screen share
* Switch to the duplicated layout
RESULT: You will continue to screen share

This works, because the same Share Pod is used in both layouts.

Assuming the test, above, works - you can then both delete the duplicated layout and then look at your original two layouts. In the 1st layout, look at the share pod title. What does it say? It's probably something like Share 1. If you look at the Share Pod in the 2nd layout, what is its title? Probably NOT Share 1 (or what was used in your first layout). Hide the Share Pod in layout 2 and then select Pods > Share > Share 1 (or the pod title from layout 1)

Hey Andrew! Thanks for your reply. I should have been more specific (apologies). The issue is when I go from a share layout, then to a discussion layout (which has no share pod in it), then back to the share layout. I find when I return back to the share layout (after being in the discussion layout, which no share pod) I have to reshare my screen. It doesn't stay as I left it. I also find this when users come back from their breakout rooms I have to reshare again. Can you shed any light on this?

It is all related. If you were screen sharing from your Share layout (with Share Pod 1) to the Discussion layout (without any Share pods) - the screen share stops. It has to, since the pod is no longer available. There is a solution I can suggest for this very scenario.

In the Discussion layout, add the same Share Pod (Share Pod 1, for example) that you have in the Share layout. But hide it underneath one of the other pods in that layout. Thus, when you switch from the Share layout to the Discussion layout, the same share pod is available; and you are still sharing, but no one can see it. When you switch back to the Share layout, the share will continue and be visible to the attendees.

This solution works for switching between layouts, as described above. I have confirmed that it works with BOR, though I do caution you may not want to do it this way. It tends to be better to reshare after ending BOR.  That's up to you - but I have confirmed you can share your screen as long as you use the same instance of a pod in all BOR and the "main room".
