This functionality is being introduced in Adobe Connect 9.3 which will be available for customers in early fall 2014.

Adobe has an incredible legacy of creating some of the best drawing tools on the planet for both desktop and mobile apps. We’re now leveraging that technology to make our own tools for drawing and annotating in an Adobe Connect room.

We’ve created a consistent experience between desktop and mobile and we’ve designed the interface to work well whether you’re using your finger, stylus, or mouse. The whiteboard has a new toolbar that opens to the left. In addition to some new drawing tools, you'll notice a new color picker that enables you to specify hue, saturation and birghtness values to select exactly the color you want.

You'll also notice some new drawing tools. In addition to the marker and highlighter, we've added a new pen tool and pencil tool. Both of these act like their real-world counterparts. For example, the stroke made by the pen tool varies depending on how quickly you move the pen.

Also available is a new button to arrange layers on your whiteboard. You can now move content back and forward along a z-axis. This is incredibly powerful when combined with the ability to adjust the opacity of objects.

In addition to the new tools, you'll also notice we've removed the drop shadows and high-gloss from every line and stamp. The gradients have also been toned down. The result is something that looks great and is easier to use.

The toolbar has been designed so that it works really well regardless of your input device. Using your finger or stylus is a very natural way to use the whiteboard and we've optimized the design to ensure it's easy to do.

The most important new feature though isn't in the toolbar. All of these tools have much more precision than their previous iterations. It's now possible to use the whiteboard for equations and function.

We hope you like the new whiteboard and drawing tools as much as we do.
