Does Connect Still Use Port 1935?

I'm just updating our troubleshooting documents and wondered whether Connect still uses port 1935?  All references to it (that I've managed to find) seem to be related to older versions of Connect.

The most common reason for our students not being able to join on-line lessons from schools, libraries, etc., used to be port 1935 being blocked by network firewalls.  That seems to be less of a problem these days, but we still get the odd student who struggles to connect, including from home.  I'm wondering whether it's still worth the pain of them getting to check port 1935!

If SSL encryption is not used for the meetings, then yes, it will still use port 1935. Joining in the browser helps as it will use port 80 but ultimately there is still some Flash technology in Connect 11 that uses that port. This should change to port 80 with the Enhanced Audio and Video Experience in Connect 12.

Re: Does Connect Still Use Port 1935?

Thanks for the prompt response.  Does that mean it'll use port 80 if we're trying the beta version of the "new AV experience" in the current version of Connect?

We have a student who claims not to be able to attend some lessons, and I'm wondering whether not all staff have switched - my lessons are OK, apparently, and I'm using the "new AV experience".

Re: Does Connect Still Use Port 1935?

If they join a Standard mode Meeting via the browser it will use connections over port 80 if SSL is not used or port 443 if SSL is used. If they use the App in Standard Mode it will still use port 1953 for non-SSL meetings and port 443 for SSL encrypted meetings.

The Enhanced Audio/Video Experience version of Connect should use port 80/443 for the respective connections in both the browser and app, from my understanding.
