Webinar

One of our staff attempted to Join a webinar today. They were prompted to do a download and because they did not have the needed permissions they could not download or install what was needed to join the Webinar.

As the administrator, I need to install what is needed, but I can find no information on this topic. Can anyone assist

Re: Webinar

Here are Connect's Tech Specs:
https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/tech-specs.html

The Add-in is only required if the user is going to share their screen or upload a PPTX file. It can improve audio and video quality, but is not required for that. If the Add-in is installed when launching or in a meeting room, Admin rights shouldn't be required. However if the Add-in is installed using the executable file, admin rights would be required.

The Add-in installers can be downloaded here:

Re: Webinar

thanks for your response Jorma ... but there's more going on here. We're having the same problem, and for us it seems to be related to how Chrome has changed with regard to Flash. On some systems now, Chrome simply won't run Flash any more unless tweaks are make in Chrome's settings. This is too complicated to do for most of my participants ... and most of my colleagues at the office don't have Admin rights to their computers, so they can't install the plug-in either, which is the recommended workaround that Adobe suggests. I had to postpone a rehearsal last week because three of my colleagues couldn't open the Adobe Connect room until their IT support had installed the add-in for them. Very frustrating. Is Adobe planning to address this issue soon?

One of the things I have appreciated for years is that an Adobe Connect link would open in any browser without the need for a plug in. It appears that as Flash is being deprecated by Chrome, this will no longer be possible. Telling participants, who may not be computer savvy or may not have admin privileges, that their only option is to run Adobe Connect in the add-in is simply not helpful.

Re: Webinar

sfetter,

Adobe has addressed the Chrome issue by changing how Connect reacts after it sees that Flash is not available in the browser. It should prompt to install the Add-in and run the meeting in there instead. This functionality was changes in 9.5.2 (http://blogs.adobe.com/adobeconnect/2016/02/add-in.html).

However, Chrome continues to change how they deal with Flash. They are not depreciating Flash, but rather blocking it for all but 'select sites'. Unblocking Flash is a pain and a more technical process than most users are willing to do. Ultimately, this is a complaint that should go to Google, who is making heavy handed changes to how you are able to access content on the web.

This is a complicated issue, and Adobe continues to try to work toward a solution that is as easy to use as it was a few years ago, but the HTML5 solution is not reasonable yet because of limitations with HTML5.

If using a different web browser is not a feasible solution, you will need to have someone with admin rights will need to install the Add-in. More information can be found here http://blogs.adobe.com/connectsupport/c … a-meeting/
