Storage and Recordings

In an environment with a separate shared content storage device; what exactly is stored?  Is it content that is uploaded into the Content Library and Room uploads, or does it also include Meeting Room recordings?

Thanks!

Re: Storage and Recordings

Hi Kevin - We use shared content storage in our on-premise installation cluster. It's a great savings of space and works really well. (Just make sure you don't reboot your servers during any meetings that are recording, as they can be difficult to retrieve) Meeting room recordings, content library uploads and uploads while in meeting rooms are stored in this location. In essence, you can set a "cap" of how much storage is locally cached and pulled when needed from the shared storage location.

Thanks Adam, great response.  Makes sense.

Any idea what the files are that are created on each individual FMS?  Looks like Meeting Room information, but are they replicated to other FMS in-case of servers falling out of the cluster?

Re: Storage and Recordings

Kevin,
We too have shared storage (NAS) where Connect servers' files get pushed out to and grabbed by all connected servers. So, yes, any content created on server A gets pushed out to NAS and if a user is directed to server B then that server will first check a local cache; if found locally then locally is used. If not present locally then content is requested from the NAS. So if Server A, for example, goes bad, Server B will continue work by using the content from NAS...
HTH.

Re: Storage and Recordings

To clarify, we also use a NAS for shared storage.  However, each FMS still creates a local 'room folder'.  So I get what you are saying.  If for example, FMS1 goes down, the backup files should be on the NAS and the room content should not be lost.  Thank for clearing that up!
