Can't install Presenter 8 after uninstalling Presenter 7

Hi all,

I'm having trouble installing Presenter 8. The installation fails every time with the message:

"Your installation encountered errors."

The error summary file reveals the following:

Exit Code: 7
-------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
- 0 fatal error(s), 2 error(s), 0 warning(s)

ERROR: A previous version of Presenter has been detected. Please uninstall it before running installation again.
ERROR: System check returned with error : 6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have completely uninstalled Presenter 7 rebooted the machine and still no luck.

Also, Adobe support have tried to remove registry entries and temp files and still can't get this working!

Is anyone else having the same problems - maybe someone has figured out a solution?

I am having the same issue. I got Presenter as part of eLearning Suite 1, and I was never able to upgrade to version 7.07 becasue you had to uninstall and the go through some tricky process to update.

Is there some special way we need to uninstall version 7?

The Adobe Captivate page on Facebook mentioned an exe file that would remove uninstalled pieces of Presenter 7 and I would presume that might eliminate this problem. However, the link on the Facebook page to that piece is not valid. I wonder if anyone has used this exe for this purpose and knows where it might currently be found?

2. There are 2 files.
    a.  If your Windows machine is 32bit, double click

This problem has now been resolved by Mukul, big thanks!

The following are the steps taken to resolve the issue:

1) Open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Adobe > Presenter
2) Rename the '7.0' folder to something like '7.0-old'
3) Attempt to reinstall Presenter 8, it should work.

This is for a 64 bit Windows 7 machine.

I had faced the same problem and a computer mechanic solve my problem.so its great info for me that again when i will face the problem i will follow the mvasic1 instruction.

I get the same message on 2 machines, one is a 32 bits running XP the other is a Mac  running 64 bits Windows 7 on Parallel. Neither has the specifies key ... Wow6432Node > Adobe > Presenter

Hello Pierre,

For Windows XP 32bit :

1) Open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Adobe > Presenter
2) Rename the '7.0' folder to something like '7.0-old'
3) Attempt to reinstall Presenter 8

For Windows 7 64bit :

1) Did you install Presenter 7.0.7 on this windows ?

2) Did you Try to install Presenter 8 with the Built-in Administrator account ?

Note : You might need to unlock Build-in Administrator (Using Command Prompt)

3) Can you share any screenshot on tcssup@adobe.com (Installation Error) ?

Hello,

Has anyone installed Presenter 8 by using the silent installation? We want to skip the Adobe ID/password step on the end user site. We have created a install package via the AAMEE tool. But we are having problem installing it on the end user side (we are just using .msi file ).

Could anyone help out?
