Sync connector can I detect if running in a room?

In a custom pod, I'd like to be able to hold off on displaying heavy visual items until the catch-up phase is over. This isn't a problem, but as I don't get a catch-up event when running the pod in a browser, it would deny me the ability to test non-sync functionality without deploying to a room.

Would there be a way to detect if a pod is running outside a connect environment, to fake the caught-up event?

Never mind, I found a hack to do it. parentApplication.parent.parent.parent in a browser in null, while in a connect room it has a value...
