Report data missing for over 3 1/2 weeks

Reporting function for a specific course stopped working for 3 1/2 weeks. Today, the report shows all the activity that occurred during that time. This is not the first instance -- are there any special tricks to getting Report to work consistently, or is it better to rely on the report available through the Training tab?

Adobe houses our content/database.
The reporting accessable by opening up the course information remained accurate through the period in question. Reporting generated through the reporting tab had the 3.5-week lag.
