JVM continually fails

Hello,

I have C8.2.0.4 set up as a test environment with 3 W2K8R2 64-bit "clustered" (via software), and a dedicated W2K8R2 w/ SQL Server 2005 SP4 for DB.

Intermittently (or on a certain interval that I have not figured out yet), the system goes down with the "not ready" message.

When I check the ConnectProService log, it shows:

2012/02/12 17:38:49 | STATUS | wrapper  | Launching a JVM...
2012/02/12 17:42:06 | STATUS | wrapper  | on_exit trigger matched.  Restarting the JVM.  (Exit code: 1)
2012/02/12 17:42:10 | STATUS | wrapper  | Reloading Wrapper configuration...
2012/02/12 17:42:11 | STATUS | wrapper  | Launching a JVM...
2012/02/12 17:47:24 | STATUS | wrapper  | on_exit trigger matched.  Restarting the JVM.  (Exit code: 1)
2012/02/12 17:47:24 | FATAL  | wrapper  | There were 2 failed launches in a row, each lasting less than 300 seconds.  Giving up.
2012/02/12 17:47:24 | FATAL  | wrapper  |   There may be a configuration problem: please check the logs.
2012/02/12 17:47:24 | STATUS | wrapper  | <-- Wrapper Stopped

I set up Adobe Connect Service, FMS, and FMG to restart on failures.

Is there an update for JVM that I am missing?  Why does JVM keep failing?

TIA

Kevin

Re: JVM continually fails

Welps, I'll answer my own question :)

I believe the reason why my servers continually failed was because of a time discrepancy.  There is currently a problem with my cloud vendor where the clock has been stopping (bug), and when the time discrepancy gets large enough between server and DB [~5 minutes or so], the Connect service will crash.

Who would've thunk it?

Re: JVM continually fails

I think i have a similar problem to you but would like to know how you verified it was the time discrepancy between the connect server and the db?

I "think" my issue is related to how I backup the virtual servers which run connect and db server using snapshots and what happens when the backup process removes the snapshot at the end of the backup process

Edit:
I have my connect and db servers setup to sync with external sources via http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr … S.10).aspx but it appears that the windows time service while set to automatic is only automatic when a member of a domain http://www.mcbsys.com/techblog/2010/09/ … matically/ because the service wasn't started when I checked on connect server

I'm going to leave that change sit a while to see if it makes a difference but my next change would be to look to the vmx file or pre/post snapshot actions to see if there is anyway better handle time slips

Re: JVM continually fails

I don't know if manually setting the times astray from each other (db and app servers) would reproduce the problem.  I can try it, but the problem was with my cloud vendor and a time drift bug that has now been resolved.  (bug with hypervisor)  The service no longer crashes.
