New Tutorials

Andrew Chemey from Adobe has produced some much needed tutorials on how to develop custom Flash/HTML/SCORM content for use with Connect Pro Training.  If this is something you have wanted to do and just didn't know how to make it work, take a look at these great resources:

These articles (particularly the Flash one) are absolutely great and were sorely needed by those of us who prefer (or must) use Flash to develop content for Connect and be able to track it.

Connect Training is now, with the ability to track my custom (non-PPT) content, a viable LMS to me.

Now that I'm so thrilled with the progress....another gripe : ( - when will we get AS3 support in Connect?

Unfortunately I had given up on using Connect as an LMS and was moving forward with a custom tracking solution, and had built my course player/templates in AS3. But now I'll just go back to Connect and will have to rebuild everything in AS2. Not a big deal, but AS3 support would be nice and really everyone kind of expects it at this point.

Ahhh....just did a quick test to see and, sure enough, Connect *does* seem to be able to handle AS3 content. Makes sense since I'm sure Connect itself is written in AS3 (if it isn't, I pity your developers!).

So, for tracking custom flash content the workaround seems to be to have a separate course (within the same curriculum) that is in AS2 and using Andrew Chemey's Flash to Connect tracking swf. That separate course could contain any trackable quizzing/interactions.

Anyone have a better idea?

Old thread I know. However I noted that when using this trackingSWF that the time-taken attribute of the api call "report-quiz-taker" is rather inconsistent.

For instance it seems that it closely resembles 1/10th of a second units and at other times does not update at all.
