Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started?

We have some courses that are presented via Adobe Presenter but are also presented in a classroom with an instructor. For the students who have attended the Instructor led training we would like to enroll them in the course in Adobe Connect and then as an administrator go in and mark these students as complete. So far I have not found a way to do this.

Ideally we want to make it easy for our managers to run reports to see the status of all of their employees in this training.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Unfortunately, you cannot give credit to a student who is enrolled but not started.  This is because that report does not display users that have not started the course or curriculum.   Once the user opens the training item, then you can do the override.

Re: Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

I havent decided yet. It does much more than just this function. I have programed a suite of features like being able to set status for one or many learners at a time, being able to import user info from MeetingOne (like name address, etc).

I guess it depends on how I want the application to be distributed.

When will it be available and where do we go to find details about this app?

Well I just finnished the production and now it has to go into testing. So I dont have a marketplace for it just yet.

I'll put you on the list of beta testors if you'd like.

Re: Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

The program works and I use it every day. However, it was developed by me for the use of RTI International ( my employer), so there is a licenseing (sp?) hurdle that must be overcome before I or RTI  can offer the product for sale.

Re: Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

There is another way to work around this problem. Create a placeholder document, upload it as content, use it to create a course, enroll users in the course, and then you can set their status to complete -- even if they haven't opened the course. I did it yesterday. You can write a message on the document explaining why it's part of the user's learning record so they understand what it is if they happen to open it. Alternately, you can set the course open and close date to a point in the past. Then users can't even open it.

I must be missing a step in mattsingerman's reply.  I have attempted to do this and still cannot see any Student names to override in the By Users report.

Re: Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

The technologly exists however, there is a problem releasing it.

I developed this for RTI International. Therefore they own certain rights to the source code and the finished product. Without thiere conesent or other agreement I have no ability to distribute it.

Is there any possibility that we can access it with their permission?

Re: Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

Hello everyone
I stumbled onto this thread researching a different topic.  We have a solution for this if interested.  We have a product that will go in via the api and activate students in a course and put them as "in progress".  You can then go in and override the grade.  Contact me if interested mlee@envisiontel.com

thanks
Matt

Re: Can override give credit to student who is enrolled but not started ?

Has anyone figured out how to do this without using any 3rd party products? I am only able to override scores when the user has started the course, by using the Reports --> By Users function. If they have not started, their names do not appear. The reason we have to override is because the users viewed the training in a classroom setting, without logging in themselves. They all were however, enrolled in the course.
