Lag during application sharing

Is there anyway to increase the performance of application sharing. One very common task for our users is to edit a word doc by sharing the desktop or application and promoting participants  to Presenters so they can edit the doc. However when participants edit, there is considerable lag when typing for example. Is there a way to make this function more useable?

Thanks

Re: Lag during application sharing

There are several factors to consider:

a) Use the latest Add-in.  Considerable performance improvements!

b) Network:  Screensharing has the potential to send considerable content across the wire, so understand what bandwidth capacity is available to each of the users.  If necessary, set the bandwidth for the room under the meeting settings to a lower-rate.

c) CPU of the "Sharing" Machine:  Make sure that the individual who is screensharing isn't running a number of other applications at the same time.  CPU utilization can become an issue if several applications are running, you're screensharing, and you're using VoIP or Video.

Hope that helps...

Re: Lag during application sharing

some users report a big help comes from lowering screen resolution and sharing specific apps instead of full desktop.

Re: Lag during application sharing

In SP3, we introduced an option in the Meeting Menu called 'optimize screen sharing'.  It provides 3 options:
-low bandwidth: reduces frame rate and optimizes for bandwidth consumption
-fast images: increases frame rate to share fast moving content
-high quality: ensures 100% fidelity of content shared.
You might want to try to play with these three options and see if it helps.
