The app is sensitive to time variations, so make sure they are accurate.  I would also look into the logs of the app server (possibly increase the debug) and see if there are any other errors like timeouts when accessing the DB.  Connect is very sensitive to DB availability issues as well.  Otherwise, you'll probably end up having to package up your logs and ship it over the Adobe tech support.
