9.1.1 Edit Templates problem

Looks like some permissions issue, but when attempting to Edit Template in 9.1.1, it opens a new tab/browser (normal) to the Author server, but it stays in a continuous loop.

Now if I pre-emp and log into the Author server console and pre-cache the admin credentials, subsequent clicks of Edit Template work.  This is not really a feasible workaround as not everyone would have access directly to the Author server.

What is the fix for this?  My test set up is the application server is separate from author and publish server (3 servers).
