Connect 8 on SQL Srvr 2008 R2 - what is the problem?
I am looking for some information about what problems we could encounter if we decided to run Connect 8.2 on a MS SQL Srvr 2008 R2.
1. Can it be installed directly or do we need to do some work-arounds?
2. Is it supported by Adobe?
3. Are there any known run-time problems with this configuration?
Appreciate any information you people have!
Thanks.

SQL Srvr 2008 R2 is not supported by Adobe for Connect 8.X, but it is for Connect 9. I would think your best bet is to create a DB on it named Breeze, and follow all the other permissions instructions in the installation guide. If it works, then you should be good to go.
When using a dedicated SQL server, it is best to install the Connect application on a different server.

Thanks for the reply Jorma.
I wonder why Adobe fixed a bug related to SQL Server 2008 R2 then?
(Rel. Notes 8.2.2.2, bug 3290066 "Improve performance of queries on SQL Server 2008 R2")
It does not compute... :/

Re: Connect 8 on SQL Srvr 2008 R2 - what is the problem?
Able to work and officially supported are two different things. I would suspect that Adobe never did any testing on C8 and SQL 2008 R2, because they were developing and testing C9. They then applied a fix that was found from testing C9 to C 8.2.2.2, but that doesn't make it support that officially.
Software is a funny thing sometimes.

Re: Connect 8 on SQL Srvr 2008 R2 - what is the problem?
If it helps, we've had v8 on SQL 2008 R2 (x64) on Windows 2008 R2 clusters for a year and a half w/no issues caused by R2. We're a fairly large on-site install w/2400 concurrent licenses.
We have 3 other bugs open w/Adobe for query/db performance improvements but they are not R2 specific. They are issues we've seen due to SQL coding in Connect for a couple of years now.

Same.
We run W2K8R2 SP1 DC + SQL STD 2K8 R2 for both C7.5 and a test 8.x environment without any problems. May not be officially supported but it works flawlessly.

I think the SysReqs are old. Adobe Hosted uses SQL 2008 R2 64 bit.
