Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

I posted this on the Adobe Forums but figured I would post it here as well to get some more eyes on it.

My company is hosting Adobe Connect onsite and we are trying to get the Adobe Connect Mobile app working in our development environment.  Unfortunately when I try to connect to a room right now I enter the meeting url, hit NEXT, on the next screen I enter my login and password (secure login checked, though I have tried it without), hit enter and it just alternated between connecting to meeting and trying alternate server before finally giving me a connection error.  Below is a synopsis of everything, but basically has anyone run into this?  I've found almost nothing searching online, either in terms of forum posts or support documentation.

Problem
When attempting to connect to Adobe Connect from the Adobe Connect Mobile iPhone app after credentials have been entered the app alternates between connecting to meeting and trying alternate server before finally giving up and saying Network Error.

Our System
Adobe Connect
We are hosting adobe connect on site
7.5 (SP1 is not installed)
Secure connections are on
Ports 80 and 443 are open

Adobe Connect Mobile
Used on an iPhone 3gs with iOS 5
App version 1.7

Steps Taken
We have verified that the server is up and are able to connect normally on a computer.

We have looked at server logs and verified that the iPhone is hitting the server and no ports are being blocked.

We have looked at the http traffic back and forth and it appears as though the iPhone is connecting (also shows up in the Adobe Connect debug.log file) but is not launching the room (does not show up in the access.log file).  Looking at a capture we did on the server the iPhone gets to the point where it is requesting room data (swf file) but nothing after that.

Possible Problems
Initially I thought it might be that we had not opened port 1935, but since there is no hits on the firewall for that port we have ruled it out.

Jorma provided a link to a post on these forums about multiple hostnames (http://www.connectusers.com/forums/cucb … ?pid=24239) but that does not appear to be our issue.

So after all that, anyone have any ideas?  :)

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

Mat,

Are you using self sign certificate?

Does your SSL certificate sign with MD5? There is a problem with iOS 5 where you cannot connect to a server that uses a SSL certificate with MD5 which is documented here by Apple, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4999.

Also to verify if your SSL certificate with MD5, go here:
http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.h … ECT-SERVER

Have you tried to enter the meeting URL with HTTP? Not HTTPS

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

When we did our initial testing we had secured connections turned off.  I can check how certificates are setup now though and let you know.

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

We are using the sha1 hash algorithm, so that does not seem to be the issue.  Also it seems that the app is getting to the logon step, getting logged in and requesting the room (at least from what we could figure out from the http requests going on).

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

On the off chance that it was something wrong with my iPhone I tried a colleagues iPad and ran into the same issues.  No matter what information I enter for at the login (Guest/Member or secure or not) I always get requesting room info then it alternates between connecting to meeting and trying alternate server and eventually Connection error.

Is there any further trouble shooting we can try to do from our end that might provide a clearer picture of why the app is failing?  Connection error is rather useless at this point.

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

Mat,

Will it be possible for you to apply the SP2 to your Connect 7.5 server?

What info is in the http://localhost:8510/console for the Adobe Connect URL?

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

Just to check  praha in your example localhost should be replaced with the url of our adobe connect server?  I am getting a message that says that web page is not available.  It is possible we are not allowing traffic through on port 8510 though.

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

Mat,

No, the http://localhost:8510/console should be run on the Connect server and this should be run by someone like an administrator who has access to the Connect server.

You cannot run http://localhost:8510/console on your web browser on your desktop computer.

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

After talking with Minh offline we were able to track down the issue!

Our development environment uses a different certificate than our production environments.  When we wanted to test the mobile application we swapped the certificate for the main Connect page but not for the flash media server.  For anything running iOS this simply results in the errors I described initially, but attempting to connect on an Android device gives you a warning when trying to connect to the room (after entering credentials):

"The server that the application is connecting to is unverified.

Server: Server Name

Trust this server and make the connection?"

Hope this ends up saving some other folks time if they run into this issue.  Thanks Minh!

I saw Matt's problem and resolution, but I don't understand it completely.  How can I get my iPad to recognize the certificate, so I can log in?

Re: Setting up Adobe Connect Mobile & Adobe Connect 7.5

djpj....what issue are you having.....? Mat described his issue as a failure to connect to the meeting room, so it was a reasonable conclusion that there was an FMS related issue, but without any of your issue background, no one is going to be able to help you....
