Does port 1935 need to be open to join a meeting in the browser?

Some of our students join meetings/lessons from schools and, when the app or Flash-based "classic view" was required, there would sometimes be a problem because port 1935 was blocked.

Does Connect still use port 1935 when joining a meeting in the browser, or is it just for the app?  I'm wondering whether I need to update our advice.

Re: Does port 1935 need to be open to join a meeting in the browser?

When you join in the browser in Standard view, the room will need either port 80 for WS traffic or port 443 for WSS traffic. Port 1935 will likely still need to be open if you use an unencrypted meeting since the underlying technology is still the same as it was in classic view.

If you go to the ? menu and find the About Adobe Connect option, hold Shift while clicking that option and you will see the connection you have to the server. For example:

rtmps://your-ams-server.com:443/?rtmp://datacenter:8506/meetingas3app/7/22991/
wss://your-acts-server.cosocloud.com:443

This is what an encrypted connection looks like, using both RTMPS and WSS over port 443.

rtmp://your-ams-server.com:1935/?rtmp://datacenter:8506/meetingas3app/7/22991/
ws://your-acts-server.cosocloud.com:80

This is what an un-encrypted connection looks like, using both RTMP over port 1935 and WS over port 80.
