Curriculum Summary

Hello everyone.
Can anyone explain to me why the Summary field in an opened Training Curriculum only displays the first line of the allowed 4k characters? 

Is this working as designed? If so, why?  Are the 4k characters only meant to appear in the Training Catalog listing?

We really don't want to grant our learners access to the Training Catalog; we only planned on learners registering through the Event module, and configuring the Event to access a specific Curriculum.
