lag when writing on the whiteboard or PDF

Hi adobe connect community,

My teaching assistant uses adobe connect at our organization (a university - georgia tech), and we've had different teaching assistants (TAs) using adobe connect for the past few years with very few technical issues.

For some reason, this semester, there’s been some lag on each session since the beginning of the term. The audio is always fine but the video seems to lag whenever the teaching assistant starts to write on the board.

The TA runs 50 minute adobe connect sessions every tuesday and thursday morning.

We started having lag problems at the start of the semester. Since then he has closed the whiteboard at the end of each session used new white-boards every session. He mostly uses pdfs that he annotates and uploads a new PDF each session. If he has a problem with the PDF he moves to the white board.

Students coming in seem to have connection speeds of around 15 to 19 Mbps (download). The TA has a speed of around 30 Mbps. There are anywhere between 5 to 20 students coming in on his session, and they use a chat window to communicate.

Does the adobe connect have any tips on ways to reduce lag when writing?

Re: lag when writing on the whiteboard or PDF

Are you using a mouse to mark up the PDF or are you using a touch device like a Waycom tablet? Historically, the non-mouse inputs have been a bit laggy, but I don't recall this being a recent issue with the whiteboard.

You can always check your connection status with the icon at the top right of the room (looks like a cell phone reception icon) and if you click on it you can see your up/down bandwidth consumption and latency.
