Audio Echo

We are hosting webinars and using VOIP but having a serious issue with echo and a delay.  We are presenting using one computer with the built in microphone/speakers and on the other end we have partners doing the same (sometimes they will have 2-3 computers but all using VOIP)

Question: any suggestions for minimizing echo?  Would poor WiFi connection impact echo? If so, should we consider a dedicated conference line?  We tried reducing video quality but it had no bearing on the audio.

WiFi is not the issue with audio echos. The problem is VoIP and how it works.

In Connect, the best way to minimize the echo is to use the Speex codec. This can be enabled by going to Meeting > Prefrerences > Microphone and enabling Speex. This codec tends to mute all but the person speaking the loudest. So, no echo.

Otherwise you may want to consider having people use a USB Speakerphone (search Amazon for them) which has a hardware based audio duplexing solution that works, or a dedicated conference line.

Most of the time its resolved by telling those that are speaking to put on some headphones to listen or just mute their computer speakers.
