SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Since the SP1 addition I cannot get into any of my rooms, and nor can the only other user I have spoken with.

Assuming I get past the disclaimer page, which is not always the case, two things happen:

1: Either the screen blanks to grey and stays like that, as if the add-in has frozen as it was opening OR
2: I get to the Start Meeting page but when I click on the Start button it changes colour to show I have clicked on it, but it freezes like that.

I have to use a room on 23 May so time running out...!

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Same problem here, since the 20th of May when the upgrade to SP1 of the EMEA hosted accounts took place. It is not possible to access any meetings. The message I get when trying to open a meeting is this (although I am the host): "The meeting has not yet started. You will be able to access the meeting once the host arrives. Please wait."

Any news?

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Good to know it is not just me Jonas.  Two colleagues got the same as you.  I still get the same problem I outlined before.  No news from Adobe.  If you could chase them too, would be good.  I have submitted a help / support request to Adobe but heard nothing.

Just called support. "It is a known issue since Saturday." They are working on it and plan to have it resolved sometimes today. / Jonas

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Thanks Jonas.  I have found a way to get into rooms, but it makes no sense. :)  Thanks to our very helpful re-seller who suggested to try it.

See if this works. Re-download Add-in (note, this probably will NOT help) - you probably did it anyway. THat worked for the re-seller, but not me.

Then try this.  Make sure you have a copy of room URL you want to accesss.  Close all tabs on explorer or whichever one you use and if needed, log out of Connect Pro.  Then, just click on the URL (so you are accessing via the 'outside' not as a host etc.).  I can get in fine that way.

Still cannot get in the usual way, as a host though!

NOTE TO ADOBE:  I think it is poor that you have not emailed people as soon as you knew this was a problem so we could make contingency plans.

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Seems to be working better now, but I still don't feel confident about it!

Try solution suggested above (06:29:25) if you are still having problems.

Good luck

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

A new wrinkle in SP1 is that it closes a loophole that allowed users who were not Meeting Hosts to host meetings. The EULA was always very specific for the Named Organizer pricing model, that the Meeting Host must be present in meetings, but many ignored this because there wasn't any mechanism in Connect that enforced the rule.

So if you were using meeting rooms this way, ie: your are not a Meeting Host but have been designated as a Host for a specific meeting room, that's not going to work for you any longer. Now only the Meeting Host can start a meeting.

Don't know if this applies to everyone who posted here but thought it might apply in some cases.

Hi Dhwalker,

Thanks for your answer, anyways i think that has no sense that an administrator can create a meeting, and can

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

It's incredible!!!!!!!!!!

Adobe connect support answer:

"The issue is occurring only on those accounts which have "Named Organizing Pricing Model" and have Hosts who are not in the Meeting Hosts Group. For this pricing model, the quota is based on how many Hosts have been purchased for the specific account.
In C 8.1.1, all hosts must be part of Meeting Hosts Group in order to start the meeting."

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

No, I don't think that can't be it Rafa. Surely??   I am the Named Organiser, and I could not access my own meetings!

So much as that is a convenient excuse, it is not the answer. Still, I can get in now, so perhaps they have fixed the problem the support mentioned to Jonas  above (see his post of 6.18).

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

This keeps happening time after time...every time they do an update something very important breaks. I have two webcast rehearsals today, one of which I had to reschedule and will probably have to reschedule the other. I am going to look for an alternative, this is ridiculous! Don't they test before they update?

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Support says:
"Issue

Some hosts are unable to start Adobe Connect meetings when they launch their meeting room. They receive the following message instead:
"The meeting has not yet started. You will be able to access the meeting once the host arrives. Please wait."
Solution

To resolve this issue, the administrator should first add these hosts to the Meeting Hosts group. A host can start meetings only after the administrator adds them to the Meeting Hosts group.
Additional Information

The issue only occurs on accounts that use the "Named Organizing Pricing Model" and have hosts pending inclusion to the Meeting Hosts group. For this pricing model, the quota is based on the number of hosts purchased by the client and allowed to host meetings. We fixed a bug in 8.1.1 to correctly enforce the workflow that hosts use to start and manage meetings within the "Named Organizing Pricing Model".

In Connect 8.1.1, all hosts must be part of the Meeting Hosts group to be able to run meetings."

Anyone knows the different pricing model alterntives?

My adobe connect acount is under "Named Organizing Pricing Model", so I have the big, big problem you're talking about. Inadmisible.

Thanks

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

Jonas is correct - the new update now enforces what has always been in the EULA.  You must be in the 'Meeting Hosts' group to begin a meeting.

@Rafa - Connect is also sold via Concurrent User (the total number of people in meeting rooms at any one time) if that's preferable.

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

There has always been a bug in the product that created a loophole in our named host licensing model.  That bug got fixed unintentionally by addressing another issue.  We are reverting the fix in an emergency maintenance release tonight to make sure you can still use Adobe Connect with a plan to address it in the future but with a proper communication plan so that you have the time to adjust the configuration of your system to the named host licensing model.

Thanks for the information, Guillaume!
It's a shame to think that some Resellers may have been encouraging this "abuse" of the license model, and as a result this whole thread appears blaming ADOBE for breaking something...  My point being, the FIX did NOT "break" anything.  Rather, it shut down an avenue of abuse.

Connect 8 is really shaping up into a great platform!

Re: SP1 Problem? Cannot access any meeting rooms

I can sell in Spain and obviously in other countries as Specialist Certified Partner in Spain since 2007 but normally people buy Connect in the country they are living.
NARTEX is the company in Spain lider in the Education area. We have sold the 95% of Connect in Spanish Universities
