Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

When I try to install Presenter 7, the installer tells me I must have at least Internet Explorer 6 on the PC in order to complete the install.  I have IE 8 and it's definitely my default browser.  Why isn't the Presenter installer seeing this? How can I get past this?

Thanks.

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

I suspect the Presenter 7 is not compatible with IE6 more powerful than it

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

I have Presenter installed on my WIN7 machine and it is working very fine.

Can you tell me the configuration of the client machine? Which OS version and office version?

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

Problem solved.  Although I have Admin rights on my machine, I needed to log out and have an Adminitrator account logged in to properly install Presenter and all the updates.

Thanks for your replies.

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

I have a few users that have this same issue. They are both on Windows 7 64-bit, both have admin rights (one user is part of the IT dept) but I get the same error.

I was able to install it on my machine (Windows 7 64-bit) without issues.

I tried doing a search for it, but I don't see anything that relates to this issue.

Here is a screenshot just in case:

I want to think there is something to do with the installer, but we have tried 2 different ones (from Adobes main site, and another file posted on these forums, which installed fine for me)

If anyone has any ideas, let me know... it is strangely frustrating.

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

Thanks for that link. I did come across that before. The problem is that the users are Admins. That is where it gets strange.

They are local Admins on the machine, and one of the users is a global admin and it still didn't work.
I installed it fine on my machine logged in as myself (local Admin) without issues.

What I am hoping for is a log of some sort that can point me in another direction.

I guess what I can try to do is log into the machine with the Administrator account and try it, but really we shouldn't have to do that if the user is part of the Admin group.

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

Well there may be some group policies can be implemented on Admin groups which can prevent the MSI installer to work correctly.

Thanks,
Ravi

Re: Presenter 7 - Windows 7 Install Error

Everything is now working. We did trace it back to a Group Policy issue.

Thanks,

Yeah! Group policies plays a key role in such issues. Good to hear that your issue is resolved!
