Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

I have been using registered version of Adobe Presenter ( I have a serial number) for some time. Now I receive the following error message:

"Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error in the licensing system. Please close and re-launch PowerPoint and enter
serial number to license it. If this problem persists, reinstall this product and try again."

The registration page pops up but just briefly--too fast to click the accept/decline buttons. I have tried deleting the Office and Adobe preference files under User as well as uninstalling/reinstalling but the error message persists making presenter unusable. I also tried to install just a a trial version but also receive the same error message.

System is Win 7. As I said I have been using it for over a year successfully.

What can I do to fix this?

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Have you checked the add-ins under powerpoint options to make sure that Presenter is still listed as an active add-in? I'm not sure that will fix your problem, but have seen the add-in become disabled before, causing the program to close or throw an error when you try to use Presenter.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have it active so there is still an issue. The same error occurs even if I try PowerPoint 2010 which I installed after the problem with PowerPoint 2007.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

I have the same problem. I downloaded the Adobe Presenter install right from here...
http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/pre … senter.msi

Then, I entered my license key that I have used in the past. I also have windows 7 recently installed with PowerPoint 2010. I tried updating presenter with patch 7.0.5 and 7.0.6 but I had no luck.
I was able to install patches until 7.0.2.

Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

I would call Adobe Support. there was a dll reg file issue that came up infrequently, but it was something that Adobe knew about and could easily resolve.

I am the same problem, exactly as described in the original post.  I have tried all solutions, including the complicated "install Office 2007, re-install AP7, run patches, etc." ...

I haven't found a solution yet.

This looks to be a new bug. I have also tried everything but could not get past this. Could one of you please paste here the logs for presenter which are created alm.log and amt.log.. under your user directory -> C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Local Settings\Temp

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Hello, thanks for your quick response.  I should have mentioned this earlier: I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit .

I can't seem to locate the "alm.log" and "amt.log" files.  Are they called something else, or located somewhere else, in Windows 7?

Thanks!

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Hi Chrisat,

How to get the above log files :
=======================
1. Open the Run window.
2. Type %temp%. It will take you to the temp folder.
3. You will find both "amt.log" and "alm.log" in this folder. Send it to us with the system details like
    OS details,
32 bit or 64 Bit OS,
    Offfice Edition and Version,
Are you a standard user or administrator.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Thanks, redhatperl...

As it happens, I am at my laptop right now, where I have the exact same licensing error message  (I have valid academic licenses for both my laptop and my workstation).

The "amt.log" file is very large, 683 lines, so I am reluctant to paste the whole thing here (I don't want to clutter things up unnecessarily)... how should I send you the log files?  Or is it okay to paste?

On both systems I have administrative access.  My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5335 running Vista Home Premium, 32-bit OS, Intel 2.16 Ghz processor, 2GB RAM.  My office workstation is running Windows 7, 64-bit OS, 12GB RAM, blazing processors (I don't have the specs with me at the moment).

Thanks very much for your help!

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

The work around suggested by Adobe so far has been a downgrade to Adobe Presenter 6.2. This has worked for me so far.

Hi chrisatcrummer,

You can mail me two log files "amt.log" and "alm.log" which is there in temp folder, you can zip them and email across to me as the file size will be small generally. My mail address is -> rtak[at]adobe[dot]com

I also sent you a word document with screen caps of the problem and all my version info including the transcript of my session with Adobe Tech Support.
- Windows 7
- Office 2010 32 bit - PowerPoint 32 bit
- Fresh install of Office 2010
- Installed Presenter on my machine fresh - but have uninstalled and installed multiple versions with the Adobe tech support instructions.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Try these steps:
1). Uninstall Presenter.
2). Right click on the presenter.msi and go to properties.
3). Click on the Compatibility tab.
4). Check the option that says "Run this program in Compatibility made for:"
5). in the drop down box select XP Sp3 32 bit.
6). Click on apply and then ok.
7). run the installer and install the presenter.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

I am having the same problem.  eLS2 Presenter doesn't see power point on fresh Office 2010 32 bit.  I know Presenter will install because I succeeded in installing a trial version, which worked.  That was uninstalled in preparation for licensed version through eLS2 which won't work despite all the fixes.  I am feeling frustrated after a full week on this problem.  I have tried everything suggested here.  Hoping for a better answer.  I don't have the option to do compatiblity in XP.  Thanks for any help.

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

We have had users experience the same issue on a 64 bit system with 32 bit MS Office, same message, and the message briefly comes up for a second.

I thought the issue was related to that, but have not yet received confirmation from Adobe. But I have a call into Adobe Platinum Support this morning and can update you once I receive information.

Are all of you with problems on a 64 bit system even if you are running 32 bit office?  I have 64 bit Win 7.  I used to have 64 bit Office 10.  I uninstalled 64 bit Office 10 and installed 32 bit Office 10.  I was able to install a free trial of Presenter that worked successfully.  Now I have the same issues described above.  I called support again and was told that the problem is that my system is 64 bit.  Does that fit with your experiences?

Re: Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not lice .Error

Hi Amy Badura,

Thank you for your post. That sounds like the issue to me. Adobe told you that Presenter 7 on Office 2010 will not work on a 64 bit system? This is what I am trying to have them confirm with me.

Currently are users with the issues have a 64 bit system. And I am confirming with them if they have a Office 2010 64bit or 32 bit.

If I hear back from Adobe I will update you:)
