Installing the Connect Add-in using Windows Installer/MSI packets...

Good afternoon all!
We have a large prospective customer that is considering to buy Adobe Connect but it seems that the Connect Add-in might cause issues severe enough for us to loose this deal...

The customer, like many other larger organizations, uses Windows Installer/"MSI packages" to install and re-install all their client Windows machines. Now the Connect Add-in is installed under each users own document folder which makes it quite hard to have that installed automatically.

From what I understand it is indeed possible to make a MSI package that customizes the installation path for each individual but the customer is really reluctant to do so due to the time it will take to develop and also maintain this. This is the very first time they have come across an application like this that is not possible to install like normal applications under c:\Program Files or under All users --> Application Data but 100% requires to be installed under Documents and Settings\<specific user>\Application Data....

Anyone out here that has customized an MSI installation package to incorporate the Connect Add-in? How much time did that take, does it require modifications now and then?

Having all their 1000's of end-users install the Add-in themselves is not an option for them...

Thanks a million in advance from just South of the Arctic Circle!

Re: Installing the Connect Add-in using Windows Installer/MSI packets...

I found this on another forum, let me know if it works.

If you download the add-in installer named setup.exe, and you do a right-click -> properties -> version, you will see in the Comments that it is an Innosetup file.

Going to www.innosetup.com, you can click on "Documentation", then "Other Information", then "Setup Command Line Parameters".

There you will find that the Command Line parameters to do a silent installation are:

/SP-
Disables the This will install... Do you wish to continue? prompt at the beginning of Setup. Of course, this will have no effect if  the DisableStartupPrompt [Setup] section directive  was set to yes.

/SILENT, /VERYSILENT
Instructs Setup to be silent or very silent. When Setup is silent the  wizard and the background window are not displayed but the installation  progress window is. When a setup is very silent this installation  progress window is not displayed. Everything else is normal so for  example error messages during installation are displayed and the startup  prompt is (if you haven't disabled it with DisableStartupPrompt or the  '/SP-' command line option explained above).

Re: Installing the Connect Add-in using Windows Installer/MSI packets...

Hi Matt!
I am afraid that this is of no help, it seems this "only" removes the dialogue from the installation...

What we want is either an add-in that installs under Application data for all users or as a normal application under Program Files...

Or if anyone out there has done a "parameter (user id) controlled MSI installation package" and could give us an indication on how much time that took...
